COPAN Systems was founded in 2002 to address a need in the market for mid- and long-term storage that gives organizations immediate access to data. Based on MAID technology, COPAN Systems products provide companies with disk-based storage at a price that is competitive with tape. COPAN Systems is changing the way long-term data is stored, managed, and accessed by large organizations.

COPAN Systems is led by former executives from leading storage and technology companies, each with a particular technical or managerial expertise, but all sharing the same entrepreneurial spirit that is crucial to turning a good idea into a brilliant success. The combined professional experience of our executive team easily spans more than a hundred and forty years and shows demonstrated success in forward thinking, innovation, and developing storage solutions that will fill the gap in the storage hierarchy.

COPAN Systems is a privately held company with the financial, technical, and intellectual resources needed to be an important player in the storage business today and into the future.

COPAN Systems has closed a total of $39 million funding ($14 million in Series A and $25 million in Series B in the 3rd quarter of 2004) with investment backing from Austin Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners, Pequot Ventures and Pinnacle Ventures. COPAN Systems has numerous large fully implemented customers.

Our Name

The name COPAN Systems was taken from the Mayan archeological site in Honduras. This site is significant for many reasons, but COPAN Systems looked to the Copan site for its company name because of the massive quantity of artifacts found and the pristine condition in which they were preserved for the edification and enjoyment of people hundreds of years later.
