Job Documentation, Job Design and Workload Planning for existing Batch Schedulers
Leading scheduling systems for z/OS environments like IBM´s Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS, BMC´s Control-M environment or CA´s Unicenter CA-7 are the backbone for batch processing in large enterprises.
A lot of projects, which were either aimed at optimizing the batch processing, to standardize the scheduling systems or provide the staff with more productive working environments, always led us to the same questions:
What does the job net look like?
How can we picture big job nets graphically and still keep the overall picture?
How can we achieve a better job design?
How can we reduce the work that is done manually to develop and maintain job nets to a minimum?
How can we support the planning of job nets so production can minimize processing times?
We could not find a solution on the market which met our requirements - so we decided to develop job. Today job is available for the following job scheduling systems:
job for TWS
job for Control-M
Currently we are also developing a solution for CA-7:
job for CA-7
Beside that, because of the open design of job it is possible to support other job scheduling systems.
And there is a special version which supports the conversion to other scheduling systems.
